Julie has spent many years contributing to sport, working with individual sports people and personalities, associations, commercial sports businesses and in education. As a participant she has competed internationally in Judo, Athletics, Rugby League and Rugby Union and as a Sports Development Officer she worked with ethnic minorities and young people. She completed her PGCE in 1996 and taught Physical Education in a variety of Secondary Schools, subsequently becoming Head of Department. She completed her PhD (Loughborough University) in 2010 and has been involved with a variety of research projects including work with the Football Task Force, DCMS, Youth Sport Trust, UNICEF and Women’s Sport and Fitness Foundation.
